The new exhibition at The Museum at FIT,
!Moda Hoy! Latin American and Latinx Fashion Design Today analyzes the work of 21st-century Latin American and Latinx fashion designers. Yliana Yepez will participate with the iconic flag handbag, "Mini Giovanna Venezuela".
The "Mini Giovanna Venezuela" was created in 2014 using the colors of the nation's flag.
It was designed to raise international awareness regarding Venezuela's political and social situation during Paris Fashion Week FW14.
"Far from my country but unable to separate from it and feeling affected by the events that occur. Looking for a way to express myself and capture the attention of people in the fashion world. The way I found to do this was through an iconic handbag from my collections, the Mini Giovanna, using the colors of the flag of my country".
The exhibit highlights designers from Latin American countries and designers of Latin origin who live and work in the United States, often referred to as Hispanic, Latino/Latina, or the inclusive term Latinx. Among them will be the "Mini Giovanna Venezuela", a handbag of almost a decade that is part of a historical moment of Venezuela, Latin America, America, and the world.
On the special occasion of this exhibition, the "Mini Giovanna Venezuela" will be re-launched for the first time since its release as Yliana's contribution in celebration of the Latin community. This limited edition handbag is now available for pre-purchase. A part of the proceeds will go to foundations that YLIANA YEPEZ supports.

The exhibit features more than 60 objects from the museum's permanent collection.
It is organized thematically into sections that address art, craft, elegance, gender, indigenous heritage, politics, popular culture, and sustainability. It seeks to challenge stereotypes about the designer fashion of Latin American origin, moving away from the notion of a singular Latin American style and highlighting the diversity of talent.
