“Welcome to the 4th floor the big 4-0”

This past weekend I traveled to Madrid, Spain for a very special occasion…to celebrate my dear friend Paula Echevarria's 40th birthday, planned by ELLE Spain.

Since it was such a short trip, only three days, I had to make the most of my days there despite the 7-hour flight from NYC, with a frozen shoulder issue and not to mention, jetlag!

Upon arrival my first stop was to visit my friend Natalia from @TachaBeauty, one of my favorite spas in town to get pampered and ready for the crazy days that were to come! Like always I got a massage and facial, which were very much needed…and relaxing, I truly recommend it.

After getting a fresh face, I was in the best spirits to go to the YY Madrid office for a full day of meetings as well as to review the newest arrivals of the Fall collection “Impossible is Possible”. It’s always exciting to see everything we have accomplished at #YYhandbags and all the new events, features and products that are coming this year!

It came time for Paula’s big day, so I had to get glam before the party and like usual I always put myself in the hands of my very talented friends, @rrnegro or @Soniamarina8 to help me get ready! This time it was Ramon who assisted me and did very light makeup with bright red lips using a YSL Lipstick.

Now it was time for the look. The very sweet Venezuelan designer @PatriciaPadron, who is based in Madrid, created my blouse. It was custom made in size but part of her collection. And it could not have been more perfect for the occasion! It was a beautiful black, one-shoulder top with elaborate ruffles made of satin organza, and it took her 16 hours to create! To enhance my look I decided to pair that with black pants from COS, jewelry from @Dior and @as29_audrey, black suede high heel stiletto sandals from @Stuartweitzman and of course a YY grace plus in satin black with gold Swarovski crystals. I was ready to party!

Once I arrived I was very happy to see Paula and I felt very excited for her on her big day, as reaching the “4th floor” is the best because you continue to feel 25 but have the experience of 40 years. Like always she was full of joy, happiness and good vibes. She looked stunning dressed in a spectacular white gown from @dolorespromesasdp that she paired with a silver hammered leather minaudiere that I custom made especially for her. Thank you so much for your using my clutch among others, you are the best!

This was truly an event I was honored to be invited to and it was so nice to see her surrounded by her family and childhood friends, amongst others from the industry. You could really see that she was enjoying herself and felt very appreciative to all who attended.

The event took place in a home in the outskirts of Madrid, which was exceptionally decorated in pink and red shades, huge balloons and romantic lighting. It had several different areas with different ambiances, like the “lounge area” which was decorated very elegantly, the dance floor, the outside seating area with live music and trees illuminated making it look like an enchanted forest and my favorite the SAMSUNG photo booth area which you were able to take photos with props and send messages to the birthday girl! It was very cool to have so many photographers capturing these special moments of Paula and her event so she can have these memories for the rest of her life.

When singing happy birthday Paula expressed how grateful she was and thanked all her family and friends. It is very nice to feel surrounded by the people you love and that’s why for me Spain is ALWAYS a good idea. Especially due to all the amazing support I get from everyone there and all the amazing friendships I have gained. It was an unforgettable night full of memories, dancing, joy and friendship.

Once again, Happy Birthday Pau! I wish you all the best for all the years to come and see you real soon Madrid.

Until Next Time!
