#YY view on inspiration
I don’t recall a single collection where I didn’t struggle with the question "what am I going to do next?" I love my latest collection so much, that I think that it would be impossible for me to create something better. Where am I going to get the idea? You will never guess the times that I hope for an amazing idea to suddenly pop into my mind like a vision from the creativity gods. Unfortunately, I don’t have that kind of exclusivity (not yet at least!)

I’m sure it wouldn’t be that bad if it wasn’t for the deadline! That terrifying word that reminds me that I’m running behind schedule, considering that in fashion, our collections have to be ready a season before they are even released to the public! Literally I have to start thinking about the next collection as soon as I am done presenting one. And sometimes, it’s not easy to think about winter when I’m surrounded by vibrant summer colors… or vice versa…

As stressful as it can be, I have to somehow find a way to channel that anxiety into creativity. Not to mention, interpret the colors and trends for the next season in hopes that people like my creations. By now finding a muse has almost become second nature… It’s like your senses are heightened and all of a sudden you don’t even want to blink because you think you may miss something that could inspire you.
To create some of my most successful collections, I absorbed, brainstormed and in some cases transformed the magic of Positano and la Riviera Maya; the empowerment and seduction of the movie Maleficent; the sparkling light of spectrum; and a nostalgic childhood character, just to mention a few. I sat down to sketch and it almost felt as if I was putting a puzzle together and the pieces just began to fit. To be honest though, you never really know until you see the final product.
For Pool Party, it was serendipitous to stumble across an iconic, yellow character from my childhood as I was brainstorming for the collection. As the ducky caught my eye when I was out shopping with my daughter, I knew in that moment that I wanted to use it as the protagonist for my next collection. Some people thought I was crazy when I told them my idea for the collection but I was committed to make something youthful, unexpected and vibrant; all things that Pool Party definitely delivers.
Although every collection is different there is one thing they all have in common: there is always a story being told. The inspiration for my next collection came with a twist…my muse was myself, a sentiment that has lived inside me and had to speak out. The new collection was presented to editors and bloggers at the beginning of the year. So stay tuned, as it will come up by the end of July!
